We are excited to announce the launch of our Self-Tape feature on Spotlight. This will allow casting directors to request and receive Self-Tapes directly through the Spotlight website making it a far easier process for casting professionals, agents and performers. This is currently in a Beta phase meaning that this new feature is being tested in a live environment with a small number of casting directors. We will be collecting feedback and streamlining the process before releasing it to all our casting members in the near future.
Our team has put together a comprehensive guide along with a few help videos to show how our new self-tape feature works: Self-Tape Guide for Performers
If you are self-represented, please see our Self-Tape Request FAQs for Self-Represented Performers.
If you are experiencing technical issues, please see our Self-Tape Technical Specifications & Troubleshooting Tips advice.
We have compiled a list of frequently asked questions below. If this does not answer your question, please Submit a request and we will get back to you as soon as we can.

Will I see all the Self-Tape requests?
I have more than one agent - how do I know who the request has come from?
Why does it say “Beta” next to my Self-Tape tab?
How will I know if I have received a Self-Tape request?
If you have an agent listed on your profile then the self-tape request will be sent directly to your agent. In turn, they may send the request to you to upload or they may ask that the tape be sent to them first to review and upload on your behalf.
If your agent has given you access to self-submit for roles, then the self-tape request will be sent directly to the person who submitted for that specific role.
Self-tape requests will be sent to your registered email address on Spotlight. The emails will come from messages@spotlight.com.
Self-tape requests will also show in the Tape Requests tab when signed into the Jobs Feed on Spotlight. The status of each self-tape request can be seen from this tab so you will quickly be able to identify requests that need to be actioned. Requests will show as Awaiting Submission in orange. Once a tape has been submitted, the status will change to Tape Submitted in green.
If your agent uses TagTapes, you should upload directly onto Tagmin where your agent can review and release it directly to the casting director on Spotlight.
Will I see all the Self-Tape requests?
If you have self-submit access and have submitted yourself for a role and a self-tape is requested, then the request will be sent directly to you.
If your agent has submitted you for the role, then the self-tape will be sent directly to them and they can then forward the request onto you. Once the agent has sent the request to you, you will receive an email to notify you of the request and you will also be able to view the request from the Tape Request tab in the Jobs Feed.
I have more than one agent - how do I know who the request has come from?
You will receive an email directly from your agent so you will know who has sent the request to you. You can also see who and when a request was sent to you by clicking into the original tape request in the Tape request tab and scrolling to the bottom of the page. The details of the agent who submitted you will appear here.
Why does it say “Beta” next to my Self-Tape tab?
As this is a new feature, this means that we are testing this feature in real time and the functionality of the feature may change following on from the feedback we receive and while we develop this feature further. Feedback can be submitted from within the self-tape page, just look out for the feedback pop up or you can submit your feedback directly through our feedback form.
